DON'T WASTE A MINUTE. YOU ONLY HAVE A DAY [or maybe two]
LONDON : From Heathrow Airport: take the HEATHROW EXPRESS. NOT THE TUBE. Heathrow express is the fastest route into london. [17 minutes] The Bus and the Taxi will sit in traffic for hours without a view. The heathrow express will take you to Paddington. after that take a black cab and enjoy the ride to........
The Choices are many and you could spend hours trying to decide. You cannot do it all so pick one or two suggestions below and know that you will get to see a slice of London that you will remember for ever. You do not have time to make mistakes so trust us to steer you right.
In london on a Saturday get to Portabella Road Market near Notting Hill 020 7229 8354 - www.portobelloroad.co.uk
A rare find, it is one of the most popular London tourist spots, and also a regular stop for many actual Londoners. It styles itself on being one of the world's largest antiques markets, yet has so much more than antiques. Only on Saturday.
If in London On Sunday go to Camden Market at he Camden Locks www.camdenlock.net/about.html
Camden Town - Northern Line. Then 2 minutes walk up to the markets - brilliant. Rain or shine, it does not really matter, as much of it is under cover. You can then pick up a boat/barge trip to Regents Park Zoo. The amazing fascias above the shops around the market areas are breathtaking! There are numerous foodstalls to try of every nationality and several cafe bars.
Monday to Friday Try starting at The Tate Modern Gallery, you do not need to go in for long but it is a great place to start a tour of the old part of London. www.tate.org.uk
Walk over the Millenium bridge towards Saint Paul's Cathederal. Alternatively visit the Tate and then take the Tate Boat down the River Thames. 020 7887 8888. The Thames is the heart of London and this ride on the river will allow you to glimpse a little piece of 2000 years of history in 20 minutes.
The Tate to Tate Boat (incorporating The Tate Gallery and Tate Modern) is a state-of-the-art, 220-seat catamaran, with specially commissioned exterior and interior designs by artist Damien Hirst. Fabulous way to travel through london
Takes about 20 minuets each way
As well as providing a fast and relaxing cruise between the Galleries for culture vultures, it’s also a brilliant fume-free way to get between Westminster and the City.
The service also calls at Waterloo pier, near the London Eye. We do not recommend the London Eye because you do not have the time to get stuck in the line-ups. Each Rotation takes 30 minutes but the line ups can be almost as long again.
